MUHAMMAD SALMAN

Board Member & Principal

Muhammad Salman is a finance professional and is in the final stages of completion of his Chartered Accountancy certification. He graduated from University of Karachi and later on completed his Postgraduate qualification in Economics. His career started as Assistant Manager Audit in a CA firm and later on he was appointed by another CA firm as Assistant Manager Assurance where he was promoted to Manager Assurance and then Accounts, and Corporate departments were also served under him. Furthermore, he managed two branches in two different cities at the same time as Manager Assurance. During this tenure he continued attached with teaching and mentoring activities.

In addition to external audits, internal audits and corporate compliance, he has practical exposure of M&A deals, licensing of NPOs and insurance companies, listing of stocks and delisting of stocks, revival of listed stock companies etc.

With co-partner he decided to bring change in prevailing methods of business studies by mandatorily introducing some crucially important technical trainings in curriculum of their students to enable them to overcome professional barriers. Such training would easily overcome the barrier of initial experience required from fresh candidates. They are also approaching employers to gain their trust in skills of freshly qualified students from AFAP.

The core areas where he acts as faculty are Financial Reporting, Corporate Laws and Taxation. In addition he also looks after Audit and Assurance related topics but to limited extent and mostly engaged in training and practical skills only. Furthermore focus of his efforts are directed towards improving the quality of education, bring in dynamic changes in the curriculum in line with the latest changing scenario, improving the way of attempting the exams and the successful result oriented technique. He is a leader on one hand and a very good team member on the other hand.

MADIHA FATIMA

Board Member

Madiha Fatima is a financial analyst and an educationist. She is full-time associated with overall AFAP group and majority of her efforts are directed towards promoting educational activities, bringing, and implementing new ideas for betterment of educational opportunities for students.

After completing her graduation from University of Karachi she proceeded for her post-graduation in field of Political Science from the same university. She had served as faculty member in the City School in English function for more than two years and volunteer in The Citizen Foundation for one academic session. Chartered Accountancy certification was also pursued by her but due to focus on her married life she took a career break of approximate six years but her desire to educate society led her back to this profession. Together with her co-partner she took initiative of AFAP in 2019 and associated herself with policymaking, curriculum management, designing skills and managing works.

Above all, she is managing everything with all personal and family responsibilities effectively. An example has been set by her for both students and members of AFAP towards dedication to work, use of technology for remote working, and management of affairs with limited resources.

ASILA ARIF

Media Coordinator

Asila Arif is a qualified professional and earned her postgraduate qualification in international relations. She is a professional speaker inspired by technology, wild ideas, and strategy. How everything talks and communicates among one another in a unique manner is well carried by her. Her career started as an accountant in a logistic company alongside she continued working side by side as a freelancer in managing brands to build their image. Experienced in advertising and publications where her ideas come alive with some of the most dynamic organizations locally and internationally.

Later she joined a firm of Chartered Accountants where she managed audit of financial statements of different organizations including listed stock entities, large sized entities, manufacturers, traders, exporters, non-government organizations, schools and funds including employees’ benefits. She was tasked to involve in planning of assignment to meet stringent deadlines, including supervision & motivation of team members too. While leading any engagement, she was supposed to do evaluation of internal controls, identifying control deficiencies & making appropriate recommendations under the corporate laws as needed. 

Her learning journey towards communications, digital, technology, content and brand strategies, public speaking and everything related to motivation, positive thinking and leadership and strategy continues and excites all of us to remain close to her and learn incredible techniques on business growth.

FARHAN AHMED

Senior Faculty Member

Farhan Ahmed, in addition to being a Chief Operating Officer of AFAP group, is one of the pioneer faculty member to join AFAP for professional education as a persuader for advancing the professional and commerce education. He also belongs to the field of Chartered Accountancy and about to complete the certificate.

His passion towards the professional education is a lifetime asset for himself. Moreover, he is one of the most followed teacher by the students of AFAP for his teaching knowledge, and skills.

Beside being an enthusiastic finance professional and serving as a well proficient financial consultant, he aspire to become a dedicated and proficient teacher. Due to his passion for teaching and extending his professional education in an effective manner and in such a way that is most simplified and beneficent for his students.

His passion for teaching and education has led him to compile a book on Cost and Management Accounting that is also his core area. Furthermore, he has been engaged in financial modeling and preparation of financial forecasts, financial accounting and financial advisory assignments, external audit & internal audits including shariah audit.

Successful delivery of several workshops and trainings on data management, inventory management, and human resource management including application of related laws are few areas where he focusses. Trainings on MS Excel have also been planned and delivered by him from the platform of AFAP.

ASAD INAYAT ALI

Head of PIPFA Faculty

Asad Inayat Ali is an Associate Member of Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (PIPFA) since 2017. Having 04 years of experience in particular areas of interest including strategic planning, management accounting, business partnering, corporate finance, accountancy, and financial analysis. His hardcore professional experience coupled with his passion for teaching makes his classroom an engaging and worthwhile experience.

Professionally he is working in an executive role in EFU General Insurance Limited. Before that, he served as Senior Tax (Global Compliance Reporting) from platform of Ernst & Young Global Limited. Where his broader responsibilities includes planning, execution and follow-ups related to taxation related compliance. He was also responsible for formal tax documentation with concerned authorities and follow up with tax notices.

From Agha Khan University and Hospital as volunteer accountant he moved to a Chartered Accountants firm and started his professional career. Before joining EY, he served in Internal Audit function in Radius Holdings (Pvt) Limited (E-Commerce) where he used to audit and oversee inventory and supply chain management.

Believe in practical-based teaching focusing solely on real-life examples from the practical world is his individuality. He has a passion for teaching and has taught many students of various certifications as a freelance mentor for the past 3.5 years. Together with all efforts, he strongly believes that in order to succeed in the finance profession, critical thinking and analysis is key and this is the attribute he aims to implant in his students.

WARISHA AHMED

Senior Faculty Member

Warisha Ahmed is a CA finalist and currently working as a manager finance in a Multinational Company Fugro. She has a vast experience of conducting professional sessions on taxation and business related matters.

After completing her article-ship from Ernest & Young Ford Rhodes Pakistan she got associated with Furgo Pakistan. During her articles she has also earned a secondment working experience for six months along with Ernest & Young Dubai, UAE. The audit clients she severed are ranged from non-profit organization to manufacturing and service industry that included both listed and unlisted clients.

She aspire to share her knowledge and insight of tax laws through teaching and also focusing on the practical application of laws.

Syed Yasir Abbas

Faculty Member

Syed Yasir Abbas is a finance  professional and has a decade of experience in field of accounting and finance. Having completed post-graduation in Economics and MBA in Finance he is a worthy resource as faculty member.

He started his career as a finance trainee and earned experience of accounting and audit. Soon after internship he got associated with a renowned tech company of Pakistan Softech Microsystems where he managed overall finance function and tech inventory under direct supervision of CFO.  After Softech he joined Army Welfare Trust (AWT) as Finance Associate and worked there for more than 04 years till he joined AFAP as fulltime faculty member for business studies.

He is acting as faculty member of business management related courses and Accounting for introductory stages.
